If you have a current (older) kernel that boots and works, you probably want 
to use -i with the rpm command with the kernels (only) vs -U because -U would 
remove the old working kernels...
I am not sure if the below yum commands will obey the install only kernel 
settings you normally get with yum, but I suspect they might.
