Need help testing updates transition for 8 and 9

Could the relevant kdelibs or something else conflict with these
temporarily (with version < 4.1)?

Or, sillier option but more straightforward: provide a nearly-empty
update (just the directories and no files, perhaps, or at a pinch edit
to remove obviously out-of-date translations?)
