any thoughts on why firefox is still nad-grindingly slow?

  not anymore -- i've been on XAA for the last couple days, and i'm
now having occasional lockup problems.  i'm using "nomodeset" as a
boot parameter and things are *exceedingly* stable, but not perfect.
