Am I doing this right?

Download boot.iso from mirror (datestamp: 20090814)
dd it to my USB stick (my BIOS does CD emulation)
boot into the installer, English/US
select my device
lots of USB blinking

Error:
An error occured[sic] finding the installation image on
your hard drive. Please check your images and try again.

on the console I see:

SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x72ccd42
": Unabler to read metadata cache entry [72ccd42]
": Unable to read inode 0x26c0c0eff

  Call Trace:

  [<c0509ea4>] ? unlock_noew_inode+0x8a/0xb4

I also tried copying install.img to a separate medium, both ext2 and
VFAT, but get the same.

"ur doin it rong?"
