I hate to disagree with you :(
I have not had a successful X session with any 2.6.32* kernels on a machine running rawhide with VIA openchrome driver like you have. I have X only running as root and with 2.6.31.5-127.fc12-x86_64 kernel. With my experience I am reluctant to try the Xorg server, I want to try, but *hesistant* to do so. The only one behaving ok is one machine with Nvidia chipset and noveaux is working fine there, the other machine with INTEL graphics is also misbehaving and X only works as root :(
I have been kind of busy and therefore not replied/asked for help and Christmas is around the corner. If I can apply updates tomorrow and get any good thing going on that VIA machine I will reply back, otherwise I will leave things as they are and come back to work and test in after New Year's Day. Happy Holiday season to all. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :)
Regards,
Antonio
