Which is fine as long as the offending app is on your current desktop
and isn't hidden. An overloaded system can take a long time to switch
desktops or bury a window, even assuming you know what you're looking
for.

Now Ctrl-Alt-Esc and *select* the app from a list, that I could go for.
(I know there's Ctrl-Esc which gets a process list, but that can also
take a long time.)
