Bittorrent is overkill for this. I had no trouble getting a full speed
3Mbps direct download for 2 of the DVD images from the RC server,
despite the fact that the lack of deltaisos forced me to download 15-20
times as much as would have been necessary. Between two RCs, the disos
would be microscopic - probably less than 1% of the full ISO's size.
There's no need for more than one direct download server for something
that small. I really don't understand why nobody seems to take the idea
seriously. All that's needed is to tell people in advance that RCs will
be made available as disos from the Preview, and disos between RCs - NOT
as full ISOs. Anyone who is interested can download the Preview from
one of the many existing mirrors well in advance. Then, everyone should
be able to get the tiny disos by direct download from the RC server -
and even after spending 15 minutes or so reconstructing the full ISO,
it's still much faster than a full download. If, despite the diso's
small size, the RC server is still overloaded somehow, they can be made
available via bittorrent.
