Desktop effects: solid white screen

Hmm... compiz-0.7.8-15 and -16 fail to start on my Intel controller too:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series
Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

Works fine with compiz-0.7.8-14.  This expected?  Do I need to pass
some "magic" settings somewhere?
