This explains some things:
[root at mail.js.id.au ~]# netstat -nlp | grep 2049
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2049 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN -
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2049 0.0.0.0:*
-
[root at mail.js.id.au ~]# lsof -i -n | grep 2049
[root at mail.js.id.au ~]#
lsof is a hazard.
