  ooooh, that could be it.  amusingly, i was looking at that earlier
this morning and thinking, "is it the static linkage that's doing
this?"  and, sure enough, that package wasn't installed on my system
so i'll test it shortly.  thanks.

  um ... given your wording, can i assume that f11 is the first
fedora where this package has been broken out?  which would explain
why this builds just fine under f10 for others?
