Usually running with yum -d9 you'll get a better picture of the cascade
effect.

It looks like cronie requires sendmail, and cronie provides /etc/cron.d,
which is required by crontabs.  rpm itself requires crontabs, and since
the rest of your system requires rpm, well....

Whether or not this is a bug is debatable.  Systems should have some
MTA, so removing sendmail without any other MTA on your system (that
provides the /usr/sbin/sendmail file) is a bad idea.  However rpm itself
requiring crontabs could be fixed, either by putting the cron job it has
in a subpackage or by putting the cron job in something else.
