Have you tried connecting via vnc?

It's especially good fun for the user when there are two modal 
dialogues, and the one that's hidden has keyboard focus. It's very hard 
to click its button with the mouse.

I had this problem a few minutes ago, on CentOS 5.3. I was just 
discovering konqueror's website debugging tools.
