Using Qt version 4.0.0-rc1-snapshot-20050608 on Mandrakelinux release 10.2 (Limited Edition 2005) for x86_64 I checked with the textedit demo by choosing Diwani Letter and then typing but the arabic letters are rendered in Tahoma font (my qtconfig font is Tahoma)!! Then I selected the text and chose the font again and now it's rendered in Diwani Letter. Weired! Regarding the other font, Arabic Transparent, It's rendered in a font called ae_AlArabiya installed on my system whether I choose the font first or after selection! -- Munzir Taha PGP Key available gpg --recv-keys --keyserver www.mandrakesecure.net F0671821 Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer Maintainer of Fedora Arabic Translation Project https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-trans-ar Maintainer of the OpenBugs project page at http://www.arabic-fedora.org/munzir/OpenBugs.html Master CIW Designer, ICDL, MOUS, Linux+, LPI 101 New Horizons CLC, Riyadh, SA From munzirtaha at newhorizons.com.sa Wed Jun 8 22:05:55 2005 From: munzirtaha at newhorizons.com.sa (Munzir Taha) Date: Thu, 9 Jun 2005 01:05:55 +0300 Subject: [Fedora-trans-ar] Just In Case you are interested why I am not using Fedora intensively! Or are you do QT on something common API.. core kernel.. what they called :) Anyway just asking.. About FC4 seems it's has some major features.. "The most high-profile new feature of Fedora Core 4 will be the Xen virtualization software, which allows users to run more than one copy of an operating system on the same computer. When used in combination with Intel's Vanderpool Technology, expected to soon begin appearing in chipsets, Xen allows users to run copies of both Windows and Linux simultaneously on the same computer. Xen is still in the early stages of development, but over the next year Red Hat plans to develop tools that will make it easier for administrators to configure and manage "virtual" copies of the operating system using Xen, said Rik van Riel, a Red Hat engineer. " I can't image running Windows & linux simultaneously ?! is it going to be As if you running linux as a host on windows without using tools like VMware..switching between them using "alt+ctrl". I appreciate your advice and care and yes you are right I am doing Qt on some common libraries. For example Qt needs freetype to support font metrics, outlines,... so the only important point here is to test with the latest libs and that's all. The QT testing I am doing would equally positively affect all distros alike whatever their version is. You should notice it in FC5 inshallah with the KDE4 > I can't image running Windows & linux simultaneously ?! is it going to > be As if you running linux as a host on windows without using tools > like VMware..switching between them using "alt+ctrl". To make things simple let's say Xen is an Open-Source VMware. It has a limitation since you need to hand-made the other OS ;) but you gain better performance. I am just mentioning this out of my head so sorry if this is not very accurate but it won't be too far! When I have a copy I would try to find a rich friend with the latest processors to figure out what Intel's Vanderpool means and how AMD built-in virtualization related ;) -- Munzir Taha PGP Key available gpg --recv-keys --keyserver www.mandrakesecure.net F0671821 Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer Maintainer of Fedora Arabic Translation Project https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-trans-ar Maintainer of the OpenBugs project page at http://www.arabic-fedora.org/munzir/OpenBugs.html Master CIW Designer, ICDL, MOUS, Linux+, LPI 101 New Horizons CLC, Riyadh, SA From Mohammad.Ghoniem at univ-ubs.fr Thu Jun 9 15:40:27 2005 From: Mohammad.Ghoniem at univ-ubs.fr (Mohammad Ghoniem) Date: Thu, 09 Jun 2005 17:40:27 +0200 Subject: [Fedora-trans-ar] Just In Case you are interested why I am not using Fedora intensively! Yes, dist should be removed. This file used to contain all the summary and description of packages. Now Fedora decided to split the summary and descriptions in separate files. This has some advantages and disadvantages. It makes it easier to cooperate in the translation but makes the translations more difficult to keep consistent. I can't say for now whether I prefer this or not but let's see whether this would be their last decision... > Anyway we can start with small files at least to warm us, them move > step bigger then step bigger.. one by one.. Message-ID: <200506211733.42243.munzirtaha@newhorizons.com.sa> Salaam all, Finally, I found some one to download FC4 for me. Do you know what's the most nice thing I like in FC? Its GUI Add or Remove Packages (system-config-packages). It's very easy to check or unckeck the package to install or uninstall it like we used to do in Windows. I used to open two different windows in Mandrake to install/uninstall. But how can I search for a package or a file? The funny thing is do you know what's the most irritating thing in FC to me? It's text mode yum command. Either I am missing something obvious or FC is missing an important usability here. In Mandrake I use urpmi to install any package on the CD. In Fedora, I don't even know how to tell whether the package is available on the CD or not. Any help or hint? Do I need to report these as bugs? Can the people @redhat.com here lends a hand? -- Munzir Taha PGP Key available gpg --recv-keys --keyserver www.mandrakesecure.net F0671821 Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer Maintainer of Fedora Arabic Translation Project https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-trans-ar Maintainer of the OpenBugs project page at http://www.arabic-fedora.org/munzir/OpenBugs.html Master CIW Designer, ICDL, MOUS, Linux+, LPI 101 New Horizons CLC, Riyadh, SA From Mohammad.Ghoniem at univ-ubs.fr Tue Jun 28 08:42:10 2005 From: Mohammad.Ghoniem at univ-ubs.fr (Mohammad Ghoniem) Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 10:42:10 +0200 Subject: [Fedora-trans-ar] What am I missing in FC4? No, please. first this fedora not redhat which means that all the work here is done by volunteers. They have nothing against it but simply they can't afford the time to do it. You see our situation now we are all so busy; so are others. It won't make sense if I said: "If Mohammad Ghoniem won't return back to translation, I would quit the job". I don't mind giving my time and more for the sake of the common interest (or even for fun).
