I did actually try to start one by raising a bug with Anaconda, as suggested. But it was rejected as they didn't want to have 'versions' of languages wasting space... I've had a discussion with Jeremy about that. Several of us will continue to do so. As I understand it his issue is just the installer because that has space and other constraints. en_GB installs and en_GB for things like system_config_display are different discussions. Ah; well on that note; I support Alan in wishing to translate Fedora specific apps into UK English; though I do wonder what the result would be like if anaconda had been written in UK English and the Americans wanted it translated... Exactly how do we get a team set up to do this. The FAQ implies that one just raises a request to Anaconda through bugzilla, I tried this method to no result. dave From ronny-vlug at vlugnet.org Sat Oct 9 12:31:15 2004 From: ronny-vlug at vlugnet.org (Ronny Buchmann) Date: Sat, 9 Oct 2004 14:31:15 +0200 Subject: Please rebuild packages for Test 3 Message-ID: <200410091431.15566.ronny-vlug@vlugnet.org> There were several string changes after the translation freeze. Yes, but before (or very short after) some string changes. > Note that calling for a rebuild for test 3 two days before its > GA doesn't really help that much, as it's already cooked at > that point. :) Should have written this earlier, but I was still hoping for someone doing it without reminding of the need. So I'd like to bring to attention the need of a rebuild for: firstboot authconfig setup up2date usermode rhn-applet anaconda printconf (after some days, b/c pot updated today, refer bug 135195) system-config-packages When will the last rebuild for FC3 final start? It seems my mails about replacing my SSH key have been safely stored to /dev/null for "further processing". Whom can I send my new SSH key for access to translations CVS ? -- best regards, Rok Papez. From jrb at redhat.com Tue Oct 19 02:33:41 2004 From: jrb at redhat.com (Jonathan Blandford) Date: 18 Oct 2004 22:33:41 -0400 Subject: last minute redhat-menus translation changes Message-ID: Hi, I made three last minute changes to the strings for redhat-mail.desktop.in and redhat-web.desktop.in in redhat-menus. These desktop files are on the default panel, and now point to whatever your default browser is. They are visible as tooltips on the default items, so they're pretty prominent. Old String | New String ------------------------+------------------ "Epiphany Web Browser" | "Web Browser" "Browse the Internet" | "Browse the web" "Evolution Email" | "Email" I tried to update all the .po files to have these new strings. I got the first two from the .po files in Epiphany, and generated the third with judicious use of sed. I would love it if people could double check those strings to make sure I didn't do something dumb. The "Email" string in particular I'm worried about. Additionally, while merging in the strings, I accidentally screwed up the headers of the po files. As a result, they claim to be from epiphany. A quick look in CVS showed that a good number of the old headers were pretty bogus ("Project-Id: PROJECT" vs "Project-Id: epiphany"), but please let me know if this causes trouble for anyone. When you right-click a picture, some of the texts are in german! If somebody could please check if this is the case on FC3 as well and get it fixed before release? It has a bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=137487 which even includes some proposed translations. Sorry if i did not have time for checking them well enough, but i was racing against a rapidly running out laptop battery... You have explicitly checked out that version at some time. CVS remembers that and keeps the file on that version. And since there can only be one version 1.10 ... You can see this if you do "cvs status bn.po", and remove sticky tags with "cvs update -A bn.po".
