"msgfmt" is part of the gettext tools, the basic library 
(http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/) that makes i18n and l10n happen
in most of the open-source projects.
Since msgfmt complains about \r, it would be good to fix this. \r should 
be replaced with \n.
