Now the beep went silent (tested with bash and vim inside gnome-terminal).
Works on the Linux console. Also, default xset b is 40 400 100. Changing
to volume to 100 does nothing. Time to redefine the bug as "no beep in X"?

kernel-2.6.25-0.121.rc5.git4.fc9.x86_64
kernel-2.6.25-0.95.rc4.fc9.x86_64

I remember that I had to edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf because of the beep
just a few weeks ago, so it looks like we keep changing this area.
