This is still an issue on an updated F8 box.

A workaround for Fedora 8 non-hackers that has this problem would be:

rpm -e hfsplus-tools
rpm -ivh
http://ftp.funet.fi/pub/Linux/mirrors/fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything/i386/os/Packages/hfsplus-tools-332.14-4.fc7.i386.rpm
