I can confirm that this still happens with F9 rawhide latest with these packages:

kernel-2.6.25-0.185.rc7.git6.fc9.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-i810-2.2.1-19.fc9.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-common-1.4.99.901-16.20080401.fc9.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.4.99.901-16.20080401.fc9.x86_64

I have this problem even without compiz on a ThinkPad T61 with Intel GM965 chip.
