alright, for starters, this is a fedora 8 machine at this point.

Also, I'm not sure how to use tcpdump so a few pointers might speed things along.

Finally, what do you think that printer might expect.  At some stage, the
printer was detected by system-config-printer and I could just select it,
instead of having to set up the whole protocol thing.
