Actually the idea was to disable cpufreq
without disabling acpi...
But as you later replaced "acpi=off" with
"processor.max_cstate=1", that gets us the
same information -- the failure still happens w/o cpufreq.
However, I'm surprised that "processor.max_cstate=1" was ineffective
in making the issue go away when "idle=poll" worked...
CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR=y on this kernel?
Can you boot 2.6.27 with "idle=halt"?
