The problem persists in kernel-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.ppc. The time reported by
/bin/date lost 5 seconds over an interval of 30 minutes (1:360) as measured by
an external quartz clock.  No ntp (network time protocol) daemon was running;
the system sat in Gnome terminal under X11 with no user-initiated tasks.
