Somebody should investigate whether libraw1394 can be modified so that
multimedia applications like dvgrab and kino don't need access to the local
node's character device file.

In the meantime, the Fedora policykit or consolekit package should be modified
to grant user access to the local node, as per comment 13 and comment 14.
