$ ll /usr/share/man/man1/ls.1.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3001 2008-10-13 02:50 /usr/share/man/man1/ls.1.gz
and it contains the "Exit status is 0 if OK, 1 if minor problems, 2 if serious
trouble." that I expected it to.

If it helps:
$ md5sum coreutils-6.9-19.fc8.i386.rpm

$ sha1sum coreutils-6.9-19.fc8.i386.rpm

$ ll coreutils-6.9-19.fc8.i386.rpm
