I have not had a chance to examine the new code in enough detail to be sure,
but from my testing it seems the behaviour is better but still not perfect. I
haven't seen the stuck remote lock reoccur, but processes waiting on a lock
don't always get it even after it has been unlocked by the process with the
lock.
