Actually, it does:

# /root/srcdevel/strace/fix/strace.t1/strace -o zz -p 6252
Process 6252 attached - interrupt to quit
ptrace(PTRACE_SETOPTIONS, ..., PTRACE_O_TRACESYSGOOD) successful

No additional patching needed.
