In case it helps, I get the following from /sbin/blkid...

TYPE="ext3"
/dev/md3: UUID="c73e4943-90d4-49af-baeb-3c91222b5131" SEC_TYPE="ext2"
TYPE="ext3"
/dev/md1: UUID="3adeca51-506e-4b51-aea7-c0ca9525ec36" SEC_TYPE="ext2"

/dev/sdb1: UUID="0469a110-494a-499f-9a43-d4c821658e3b" SEC_TYPE="ext2"
TYPE="ext3"
/dev/sda5: UUID="c73e4943-90d4-49af-baeb-3c91222b5131" SEC_TYPE="ext2"
TYPE="ext3"
/dev/sda3: TYPE="swap"
/dev/sda2: UUID="3adeca51-506e-4b51-aea7-c0ca9525ec36" SEC_TYPE="ext2"

/dev/sda1: UUID="0469a110-494a-499f-9a43-d4c821658e3b" SEC_TYPE="ext2"
TYPE="ext3"

Is it possible that grubby doesn't understand software raid-1 partitions when
defined through a UUID rather than the traditional /dev/md# in the pre-existing
grub.conf?
