I have exactly the same problem with a laptop where this did NOT occur on
F7-F9. After an upgrade to F10, the computer is hardly usable.
It uses the radeon driver with AIGLX and Composite options set to "on" in
xorg.conf (disabling them doesn't take any effect, nor adding the options
mentioned in comment #15).
