The basic layout is good (maybe the placement ans size of the logo could 
be better) but I think it would be an interesting idea to change the 
wording somehow so it includes the F11 slogan ("Reign").

Does this banner need to be translated under the websites freeze?
That freeze date is listed as today or tomorrow.  I see one version
has the text "available for download now" -- if we plan to use it,
we'd want that text to be included in the website data that's frozen
for translation.

We'll basically be making a branch for F10 and making updates in the
master branch.  We're going to try and handle the easy translation updates
(F10 -> F11) as much as possible, so the rest should be ready to
translate in a day or two (sorry for the lateness, this happened to
coincide with finals week for me).

Usually, the banners don't contain any text, for example:
http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/banners/f10release.png and
http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/f10launch.png.  The main things
that will change are the get-fedora page, and a bit more strings on the
verification page, since we're using SHA256 now.

That file should not have been a RAR file, but an ISO file system
image.  There should have been nothing to extract.

download.fedoraproject.org is merely a redirector.  Do you by chance
know the IP or DNS name of the actual machine from which you
downloaded the ISO file?  Did you verify that the ISO contents
matched, as described here: http://fedoraproject.org/en/verify
?

I am concerned that what you describe should absolutely never happen,
and that you received something which was not produced by the Fedora
Project.

Do you have any USB keys or similar, attached to this system, which
could have been the source of the Caldera DR-DOS environment, and not
the ISO image?

Without the word "fedora" or the logo, I am afraid this one can work 
only for insiders, everybody else will not know what it is about.

This one I think is a bit too plain: wile having a simple default 
wallpaper (with no lion) is good for usability, is not the same for a 
banner, which should grab the eye. So the lion here is a good thing.

                I have a computer Pentium 4 with 1,6G processor, where I was using the Red Hat (shrike).
there was problens for sercher with mozilla and I wished install  the firefox and I used the rm mozilla, in order to install
the firefox, and what happens? the mozilla was removed but the firefox wasn't installed.
               I downloaded the Fedora 10 and installed it, and there was two bugs, the first the windows for ROOT not appeard, and the other, the worst, after the boot it crashes, only back to work when I cut the power.  So I deleted all fedora projects and a came back to rad hat 9 shrike (i686).
               My nice has also a computer, I put the fedora 10 in it, all went well, but she updated to fedora 11, and the computer crashes, anything there is on Fedora 10
                I have another computer 86_64, and I put the fedora 8 and updated, now it is working with fedora 10 and all right.
                I hope to be helping the community with that observations. I ask you how I may update the old computer RED HAT 9? in order to work with firefox?

The gradient in the logo is fine. The shadows on the logo and the '11'
are waaaaay too dark. See the most recent large release image on the
current fp.o for an example of what it should look like.

It is the self service scheme. Go to the web interface you used to

Maybe it's a good idea explain how to include the banner in most popular
blogs.

An example for Word Press:

To include javascript in wordpress you need to install 2 plugins, we will
explain it step by step:

    1. Go to the website http://www.ooso.net/inline-js and download the
plugin Inline Javascript Plugin
    2. Unzip and upload to your server directory wp-content/plugins
    3. Go to your control panel and activate the plugin
    4. To use this plugin, you must assign the user "unfiltered_html" and to
do that you must install the plugin called Role Manager
    5. Download this plugin from
http://www.im-web-gefunden.de/wordpress-plugins/role-manager/, unzip and
upload to your server directory wp-content/plugins and activate from your
control panel.

OK, so in the FESCo meeting the consens was that we do not want to
clutter the download page with a lot of link but adding a banner on
the right side to make x86_64 more visible is doable.
Any objections to that?

Hi,

In mirrormanager interface, it is hard to understand what "user_active" box and
its explanation means. To a non-native English speaker, "Clear to temporarily
disable this host" may mean that it is OK to disable this host when a problem
is detected.

A less ambiguous wording would be:
"Uncheck this box to temporarily disable this [site|host], it will be removed
from public listings"

And the label itself (user_active) can be made made more explanatory, like
"site active" "host active"

That is a test page included with our operating system; we don't
actually control the site in question.  For more information, please
refer to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ServerTestPage.

To find contact information for the actual owner of the domain, you
probably want to do a whois lookup on it.

The current mirroring instructions at [1] state that mirrors should give
--delete-after parameter to rsync. A debian mailing list post[2], and rsync man
page state that using --delete-delay improves performance. That option sould be
mentioned at [1] along with the notice that it is available for versions of
rsync >= 3.0

When Fedora 10 was released I fetched the torrent files and started a
client which uploaded much much more (about 1 TB) than I downloaded.
That was the good news, the bad news was that it took most of the
release day to fetch all the torrent files so that my client could fully
participate in all the torrents.

I'd like to avoid this delay for the Fedora 11 release. What's needed
to establish some servers whose sole purpose is to provide the torrent
control files?  Or, this could be carried one step further by creating a
zero-level torrent providing only the torrent control files? The control
file for this could be predistributed and the tracker not enabled until
the magic moment.

Oops, it looks like LINGUAS was updated on the master branch but not the
f10 branch (which the website is currently frozen to).  I just updated
LINGUAS in the f10 branch, and I'm updating the website right now.

Sorry, I'm not sure exactly what this is referring to, as the release
banners don't contain any text.  Right now, all of the strings for the
F11 website should already be in the PO files in the fedora-web repo.

Hello web team,

Several of us in Fedora have been asked to see if we can provide a
better handling for sponsorship.  One of the things we're
investigating is how to properly reflect the different levels of
sponsorship, and portray that properly on specific Fedora web areas.

While we're figuring that out, though, as a sort of stop gap measure I
wanted to propose a change that would show the substantial resources
that our primary sponsor (Red Hat) puts into the Project, while not
changing the overall tenor of the sponsors page or the gratitude that
we have for all our sponsors.

I tend to do one at a time, but send-email will actually do it all.

In my ~/.gitconfig I have the following settings:

sendemail.smtpencryption=ssl

Then I can do:

overkill.  Your commit message should be able to stand alone to explain
a single commit!

Indeed.  And in the cases where some extra context is desirable (for
example, if you're replying to a message about an issue and want to
include a patch to fix that issue), such text can be added after the
--- that git adds, just before the diffstat.  This text won't be
processed by git am / git apply, but can be useful to those following
the thread or the folks maintaining the git repo to which you are
submitting a patch.

Of course, to do that, you generally skip using git send-email and
just drop the contents of format-patch into your MUA (we're all using
sane mail clients that don't mangle line breaks, tabs/spaces, etc.,
right?  ;).

I have attached the screenshot of ~/index.html.mr [showing Arabic
characters].


I also tried:

[sshedmak at dhcp6-72 fedoraproject.org]$ make all
** Issue ** visibility of Arabic characters at ~/index.html.<lang> is seen
for all locales listed in po/LINGUAS file.


Additionally, index.html.<lang> builds successfully for
talk.fedoraproject.org for 'mr' locale. [screenshot attached]

I registered the fedora account quite long time ago. Now, I want to apply
for the fedora campus ambassador but the problem is i forgot my username.

I tried to registered the new account with the new username and same email
address but the system didint proceed.
So, I was wondering are there any way i can use my account again with my old
email address?

Sorry, but 192.268.1.107 isn't a valid IP address.  If you made a typo
and meant to say 192.168.1.107, then that's an IP in your local network,
which can't possibly be from us.

Hi, thanks a lot for reporting this.  It looks like I made a mistake
in my last update to the Makefile (thankfully, this didn't affect the
live site, since it is currently frozen).  I just pushed another update
to the Makefile that should fix this - can you pull and try now?

http://publictest1.fedoraproject.org/.  Hopefully, this is helpful for
proofreading translations, testing out website changes, etc.

Right now, these instances only have some languages enabled - I'm
working on making sure that all languages are enabled for the test
instance.

it to build properly, I changed/removed some Plural-Forms lines in the
sv, es, and tg translations.  I hope I didn't break anything with these,
translators of those languages might want to double check this :-)

they are rebuilt every hour.

I visited the link and noticed that the F11 Image in the top left shows 
up for a few seconds and then disappears. This however does not occur 
when the Photobook image is displayed. See attached image. Does this 
happen to anyone else?

Oh, that's normal and expected.  The banner javascript points to
an F11 release banner at http://fedoraproject.org/, but the image isn't
there yet, since we're currently showing the f10 website.  That banner
will work once we release the F11 website.

That string comes from a javascript file, which we don't support
translations for yet.  When the website goes live, a small release
banner with no text will be shown there instead, and the string will
just be the alt text.

I'll try to look at javascript translation for future releases.

Hi, this should be fixed now.  Apparently, /etc/mime.types grew a lot in
rawhide, and is assigning mime types to a lot of file language code file
extensions now.  For now, I have to add an override for each one that
has issues, but I'll look into a better solution later.  Please let me
know if any language is returning a page in the wrong type.

select bn_IN from the drop-down. Am I missing something?

That's very helpful, thanks! Unfortunately Polish (pl) does not work at 
these test instances. When choosing it, browser tries to download some

Right, either on or right after the day of release.  I should have an
image and destination info for the Websites team shortly, just didn't

Ricky, its still not working. Looks like there is a problem with the languages 
with country code. pt_BR, zh_CN, zh_TW all return the en page just like bn_IN.

And unfortunately, the fedorahosted page is now dysfunctional too. It was 
working earlier but now returns the en pages when any of the above languages are 
selected. :-(

Can someone else confirm this please, just in case it is a problem at my end?

Oops, I regenerated the apache configurations today and I had a bug in
the script that mixed up the order for those country codes.  It should
be fixed now.

As a side note, make sure to make changes to the F10 website on the f10
branch.  The first time, you'll want to run:

git checkout -t -b f10 origin/f10

then any time after that, you can just run git checkout {f10,master} to
switch between the two branches.  The current website is built off of
the f10 branch, but once we unfreeze it, it will be off of the master
branch again.

Is there any chance for the planets feeds to be at least translated
(maybe via google translate or similar) but perhaps have the feeds split
by language? Half the entries I get from my RSS client are
incomprehensible to me, I'd like to read them, but I only speak and read
English...

It would be much appreciated by many I'm sure, so your consideration
would be very welcomed.
