Your username appears to be shyamiyerdell. You should be able to

Sounds good, Hiemanshu. On Saturday, could either you or Sijis post
some sort of summary of what's done, and what's left to do? That
would help orient anyone who wants to help. If we simply tell people
"we need help," and don't give them specific things to work on,
I've found they're not likely to take us up on the offer. :-)

Hello Tareq,
I'm sorry no one responded to you until now. There are several
projects ongoing in the Websites team, and one of them is writing
HTML/CSS. Hiemanshu and Sijis are trying to turn the mockups made by
our Design team into actual Web pages we want to deploy for Fedora 12
in about 6 weeks. Are you interested in helping with that?
If so, reply here, and please come by IRC Freenode #fedora-websites
and introduce yourself to users "sijis" and "hiemanshu" and they can
help you get started.

It make sense to add the extra padding, so I've done so.

Not quite so, Hiemanshu: one is a mockup for the front page and another
is for the spins page.

That is a test page included with our operating system;
we don't actually control the site in question.

OpenLaszlo
i chose it because it's compatible with the flash player, but in the same

Hello Paul,
Here is a list of pending Items we had on mind. Thanks to sijis for making it.
Design
======
- complete tabs in content section (use jquery?)
- complete right side column
+ updating fonts
- complete header
+ create rounded corners
- clean up and complete images
+ images are not correct color
+ check transparency
+ create missing images for each spin, header, etc
- update css to include correct font
Coding
=======
- genshi templating
+ master template must change depending on spin page/section you are
on (see for ideas:
http://genshi.edgewall.org/wiki/Documentation/0.5.x/xml-templates.html)
+ change template so it works as anticipated (see above)
Content
=======
- update links to correct locations
- create content for spins
- create directory structure
+ structure: spins.fpo/data/content/$spin-name/
- content changed to make translatable eg: ${_('Text')}
Testing
=======
- verify site works with other OSes / browsers
I am back to work. So I am getting started again on it. Everything
should be on schedule.
If anything reading the list has some time to spare please do help us
out. We could really like a few extra heads.
Regards,
Hiemanshu Sharma.

Please respond to this email if you receive it.
My name is Mark Angelisanti. I am currently listed as a local vendor
for distributing Fedora media. I was previously listed as an online
vendor as well, but was removed from there by my own request. About a
month ago, I had sent an email to the email address for vendor listings
to be put back on the online vendors list. A little while after that, I
had requested that my local vendor listing be modified to include a link
to my website, and to include my business phone number.
As of right now, I have seen no changes made to any of those listings.
I am wondering if any of my emails have been received. Overall,
throughout these emails that I have sent, there have been a total of
three emails. I never got a reply to any of them, nor did I see any
requested changes.
As stated in the first line of this message, please respond to at least
acknowledge that you received this message. In the meantime, I am going
to try to email the email address for the vendors from my personal email
account.

Raymond,
The previous Fedora releases are available in http://archive.fedoraproject.org.
I'm including the link to Fedora 7 root where you can navigate to
download the specific files you are looking for:
http://archive.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/7/.
Hope that helps.

Message-ID: <4ACA6759.9040407@fedoraproject.org>
Hi folks,
I just finished up the final mockups for get.fedoraproject.org. These
were originally due last Friday, so I apologize for the delay [1].
Here's what we've got:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Website_redesign_2009/Mockups/Get.fpo
For reference the spins mockups from a little over a week ago are here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Website_redesign_2009/Mockups/Spins.fpo
These should be fairly familiar to a lot of folks since we went over the
pencil sketches for these in a board meeting not long ago and those
sketches have been available for a while [2].
Let me know what you think!

[1] I was really sick last week and ended up taking a sick day on Friday.

Hi,
I thought I'd join up here as well as the infrastructure list - I do have
transferable skills to help, namely php / mysql, for web development with work
we use ASP.NET.? For those not on the FIL I've included the main parts of the
original introduction?I sent to the?infrastructure list which gives you a fair
bit of info about me below; apologies if you've seen this before.
Cheers.

(FAS/irc: leemwilliams)
================== Original intro' sent to FIL?==================
I'm married with 3 kids (aged 4, 2, 1 :D)... full time job but I do get time to
spare surprisingly!!!!? I love my family to pieces they mean the world to me.
I've been working in IT for 10yrs now all in a Microsoft DOS / Windows based
environment, starting with development in FoxBASE and FoxPro and moving through
the versions to visual fox.? I've not attended university but have never had a
problem with reading / googlin' bits to learn new things; I do get quite a kick
from picking up "new to me" technologies and helping to solve problems.?
Currently I work full time as a Visual Studio developer with Technology
Management Ltd. in the UK developing .NET applications for the WinCE / Windows
Mobile based mobile device market.? Those applications are mainly written in C#
but we do have a significant VB.net code base.
Following the latest Microsoft based OS crash at home a rebuild has become
necessary which I started this weekend - yesterday in fact, so I made the choice
to make Linux my main OS; to be fair it should've been from when I dabbled with
Fedora 7 and 8 thereafter... still... my foot has gone down, and my wife is
scheduled a tour of Fedora at the weekend ;)??
I have recently bootstrapped myself to other languages C / C++ and php for web
work I'm finding this interesting to say the least.? I do have some experience
with Apache and MySQL (obviously the strong knowledge I have in Internet
Information Services and SQL Server have been somewhat transferable).? It looks
like I need to add python to the list of things to learn and this is something
I've been mulling over so may just make that leap.?
>From all of that I'm hoping you can tell that whilst I have very little
experience with 'nix environments I am keen to learn just need some guidance on
where to go to pick that up.
Away from PC's (if there ever is such time) I play guitar - well I play guitar,
banjo, and mandolin to be honest.? The last two I'm not so hot at but I can
"hold my own" - to coin a phrase - on the guitar.? I also love to read; and have
- of all things - recently started dabbling in magic and performance thereof
but... now I'm rambling :D
I look forward to helping in whatever way I can.? I'm looking for a good place
to start, I'm obviously following the wiki, reading up when I can, and of course
getting my own Fedora environment setup (although I do have one running in
VirtualBox at work to satiate the 'nix desires whilst I'm at work :D).

+100.
I think that Mo noted somewhere in the mockups that there's a missing
element, which is the route for a person who is looking to update
their existing Fedora system. It might be just a single page that's
in order, and the flow itself is mostly there already.
> Do you think we can still go live with this for Fedora 12? Can you
> stage the a beta version of the pages so that we can all help you
> test them out?
The websites team, Hiemanshu and Sijis in particular, have been
working on these pages. To test them, here's what you need to do:
$ su -c 'yum groupinstall "Web Server"'
$ su -c 'yum install git gettext python-genshi babel'
$ git clone git://git.fedorahosted.org/git/fedora-web.git # ~37 MB
$ cd fedora-web/fedoraproject.org
$ make
$ make test
Then point your web browser at http://localhost:5000/ to see results.
The folks on the Websites team could use some help in getting the HTML
and CSS done to support the mockup designs. I've advertised on some
social networking feeds -- assistance would be appreciated!

Subject: spin website : need directory structure for first draft
Message-ID: <50baabb30910080556vab69515q397a49b155e622b7@mail.gmail.com>
Hello there,
I'm trying the css for the spin website from your git repo.
My first draft :
http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/website/website03.png
Please note, that the number of tabs is limited, else it will turn
into an ugly 2-lines tabs.
I don't know exactly how you will deploy the website of each spin. I
guess you are planning to have in your git repo:
fedora-web -> spins.fedoraproject.org
-> data
-> content
-> ***FEL***
-> ***KDE ***
-> spins.fedoraproject.org
-> static
-> images
-> ***FEL***
-> ***KDE***
Am I right ? If it is, it will be perfect for us spin maintainers to
update our pages without interfering with the pages of other spins.
Could you please create such directory structure in your git repo ?
Please place the (first draft) contents
* http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/website/content.tar.bz2 on
fedora-web/spins.fedoraproject.org/data/content/FEL
* http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/website/FEL.tar.bz2 on
fedora-web/spins.fedoraproject.org/static/images/FEL
thanks,
Chitlesh Goorah

The redbox is supposed to be space for your logo. See:

Hello there,
please merge this css file to your spin.fedora.css.
http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/website/fel.css
It helps to position pictures right and left and adds a nice border around it.

Hello,
I've trying the current git.
I have one comment about the header. The header is too HUGE. (about
30% of the page)
See Red Box in this screenshot
http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/spinwebsite.png
This prevents me from adding the Fedora Electronic Lab logo on the
page since together it will take about 50% of the page. I would prefer
to use those page to demonstrate why the spin is great.
http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/FEL/images/fedoraelectroniclab-logo.png
Can you compress the contents of red box into the yellow box ? Also is
it possible to replace the gradient blue stuffs into something similar
to the footer ?

When I click "Join Fedora" and signup for a Fedora Account the captcha when
I signup is very hard to read. Also, when logged in the option to change my
password I found a tiny bit hard to find.

The domain http://soap.pbsolutions.eu which links to your website is being used to send SCAMMING e-mail PRETENDING to be on behalf of EBay
You should act to closed down that domain, remove the link from it's under construction page, inform EBAY of the PHYSHING SCAMM operated
by that domain, before legal action may be initiated.
As a would be victim of such SCAM weren't it for the fact that I am a retired Government Computer specialist with 31 years of experience, I will have
no problems initiating the legal action if you fail to act.
Thank you,

That is a test page included with our operating system;
we don't actually control the site in question.

It would be best to avoid making such threats until you have the
proper facts. Thanks.

Dear Sir,
Our organization (FreeWays of the Higher Institute of Informatics
Tunis) works towards a campaign to disseminate Fedora and Open Source
programs in Tunisia.
We are prepearing to organise a conference about Fedora. This big
event is made possible by the generous support of people like you.
We are asking you today, to take a stand for the program by making
a simple donation of about 50-100 Fedora CDs and some stickers and push us
to do our best. Your generosity is a great help to fulfill the program.
Thank you.

sounds to me that a fedora CRAP THAT IS NOT REALLY ASSOCIATED WITH RED HAT, on an open source software site, will get more questions like mine than not. Specially if those sites
trying old, dumb, idiotic scams make it relevant to place a link to the FEDORA PROJECT to make it appear their sites are legal and commercial and you let it happen?????!!!!!!!
I will let the ebay people and the other authorities I forwarded the email to, deal with it. whether you're running the scam, your cousin, nice or best pal is irrelevant to me because I block, delete, and
trace the IPs whenever I get this kind of crap.

I don't think you do understand. But let's just leave it at that. As
neither the Fedora Project nor Red Hat have anything to do with the
site you mentioned aside from seemingly using the operating system we
produce, I don't think there is any liability or concern for Fedora.
Please note that I do not speak for the Fedora Project in any official
capacity.
Good day.

Just following up on the list, Galder and I talked in #fedora-admin today.
There's a routing issue between our smtp server and the jboss.org server
(since both are internal to RH it's a special case) Galder now has a
working account and I think the routing issue has also been resolved, just
waiting for some verification.

I figured it was an internal Red Hat routing issue. We seem to have a
couple of weird routing problems.
What I've heard about the routing (Nigel seeing Cumulus guests as
behind NAT.) is that it is freaky.

Pooh, this is an opinion one, I can read each of those without issue.
We'll have to see what options we have.

I don't think it's an opinion one as much as what a particular eye can
see. In my case, I can read 'most' of them with little to no effort,
but there were at least 3 that I had to squint or move closer to read.
I've had perfect vision all of my life. What I don't understand is
the value of having colored boxes that make it extremely difficult for
the eyes to focus on the letters.
BTW, I understand what a captcha is and its intended purpose, but I
would argue that this is only one step of many for preventing computer
bots to invade the fedora project. Mitigation is the goal here, I
don't think it's possible to eliminate all bots, but it is possible to
eliminate a few potential contributors because of something simple
like this getting in the way.
Cheers,

Oh, I wasn't suggesting abandoning it, I think it's great. I just
wonder if we could tone it down some. Sorry if I implied such a
thing, I am excited to see that we're using CAPTCHA.

I'm not actually sure, here's the app we're using:
http://code.google.com/p/tgcaptcha/
It's a pretty easy change to start using Vanasco-Dowty but it gets tricky.
neither one is particularly easy to read (which I guess is the point)

Actually the Vanasco-Dowty is *much* easier to read (from what I see
on their google code page). I can read the McDermott CAPTCHA, but it
takes my eyes more effort and I had to squint a little. This is just
my experience, but I think the Vanasco-Dowty would be a good
compromise.

Bodhi switched from Vanasco-Dowty to McDermott because Vanasco-Dowty was too
hard for people to use. I remember playing with it and I think the issue
was that Vanasco-Dowty is much harder to figure out uppercase and lowercase
than McDermott. Note that that's not something you realize by reading the
documentation -- that's only something you realize by having your captcha
rejected because you typed "CIKLOPSUVWXZ" instead of "ciklopsuvwxz".
I'd love to see someone create a new captcha algorithm that was easier to
use. I'd work on it myself but I don't know what a computer can or cannot
read.

20:11 * ricky /me is here, sorry
20:11 -!- mizmo [n=duffy at fedora/mizmo] has quit "Sl?inte Mhath!"
20:11 < smooge> yes. I need to know what I should do about it. Will discuss after meeting.
20:12 < mmcgrath>
20:12 < mmcgrath> And that's really all the tickets left, we're in good shape it seems.
20:12 < mmcgrath> #topic Search Engines
20:12 -!- zodbot changed the topic of #fedora-meeting to: Search Engines
20:12 < mmcgrath> a-k: you want to take this one?
20:12 < a-k> Sure.
20:12 < a-k> I didn't find any engines written in Python, but I found 4 written in Perl, according to their documentation. 2 are not actively maintained. Huzaifas and I split the 4 between us.
20:13 -!- Fedora11 [n=EvilBob at fedora/bobjensen] has quit "Leaving"
20:13 < a-k> Most engines are written in C. Are we willing to consider them? The preference had been Python.
20:13 < abadger1999> a-k: C is okay.
20:13 < mmcgrath> a-k: C is perfectly ok.
20:13 < a-k> OK. That opens it up quite a bit more.
20:14 < dgilmore> there are a few in java also
20:14 < mmcgrath> a-k: I was talking with huzaifas last night about this very topic. I didn't mean to imply that language had as much weight as it has had :)
20:14 * ianweller is here
20:14 < mmcgrath> we have a preference for python and all but it's not a hard requirement at all. We just want the best tool for the job.
20:14 < dgilmore> the one archive.org uses could be good to use
20:14 < a-k> Roger. We'll look at the others.
20:14 < mmcgrath> a-k: any of them look particularly interesting?
20:15 < a-k> Of the Perl ones, Namazu looked good. Huzaifas is looking at that one.
20:15 < a-k> OpenFTS is not maintained, but it has a Python interface for apps to access it.
20:15 < mmcgrath> cool, well lets keep talking about this at the weekly meetings. I think a few people are interested in the outcome of this.
20:15 < mmcgrath> yeah :( for unmaintained apps
20:15 < dgilmore> a-k: it needs to be maintained
20:16 < a-k> dgilmore: yeah. I figured....
20:16 < mmcgrath> Ok, anything else on that?
20:16 < a-k> I don't think so.
20:16 < mmcgrath> K.
20:16 < mmcgrath> nb: you around?
20:17 < mmcgrath> 'mm kay
20:17 < mmcgrath> So really that's all that's going on at the moment that's meeting worthy
20:17 < mmcgrath> #topic Open Floor
20:17 -!- zodbot changed the topic of #fedora-meeting to: Open Floor
20:18 < mmcgrath> anyone have anything they'd like to discuss?
20:18 < mmcgrath> If not we'll close the meeting in 30
20:19 < sijis> blogs.
20:19 < sijis> so, i know there are minor things on it.. but i believe nb's thought its to put a public notice about it soon.
20:20 < smooge> how is it situated to go ?
20:21 < mmcgrath> sijis: yeah
20:21 < mmcgrath> I'm not sure the status of that at the moment either.
20:21 < mmcgrath> I'd like to get it finalized though
20:21 < mmcgrath> this last 10% for projects always seems to take the longest.
20:21 < sijis> the are two open issues (that i'm aware of)
20:21 -!- cassmodiah [n=cass at fedora/cassmodiah] has quit Remote closed the connection
20:21 < mmcgrath>
20:22 < mmcgrath> nb's not here so that's out but that's ok, maybe we'll catch him next week.
20:22 < sijis> 1 - redirection with the new control panel link, 2 - rss feed error (just heard about it yesterday)
20:23 < mmcgrath> yeah I know about 1
20:23 < mmcgrath> not sure what it is though
20:23 < mmcgrath> sijis: ok, anything else?
20:23 < mmcgrath> if not we'll close
20:23 < smooge> the only thing I had to ask about was the PHX1 -> PHX2
20:23 < sijis> we think the redirection/rewrite or ssl problem.
20:24 -!- lfoppiano [n=lfoppian at fedora/lfoppiano] has joined #fedora-meeting
20:25 < sijis> that's all i have.
20:25 < mmcgrath> allrighty then :)
20:25 < mmcgrath> smooge: I haven't heard anything new on that, have you?
20:25 < smooge> nope
20:25 < smooge> just wanted to put it in the public record :)
20:26 < mmcgrath> hahah
20:26 < mmcgrath> yeah, that's sure slow to start
20:26 < mmcgrath> I haven't even heard what happened with my hardware yet, I know it's on site now.
20:26 < mmcgrath> anywho, we'll keep it short :)

Greetings,
I have found an error in the following page for windows users
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/readme-burning-isos/en_US/sn-validating-files.html
It seems that the current checksum method is SHA 256. Only hashcalc
can do this.
The other 2 recommended programs will not do this.
It took me quite awhile to figure this out.
Also it would be good to elaborate on how and where to find the sums
to check against
and to remind users
to be sure to use the correct calculation method.
Thanks

Why is F11 so fucked up while F10 was perfect?
Nothing works anymore as it should.
-Images are not loaded in evolution even with the proper image loading
settings.
- some images have like 16 color schema instead of the proper 256 or
more, and there is no setting to be found that can change it,
- video files don't show properly, they crash or stutter.
- settings are changed back after a next logon.
- other settings often have no effect at all
- printer no longer works and no proper settings to be found.
and the list goes on, and on and on...
and I cant find any clue on the net what so ever.
I totally curse F11.

That's just a bit exaggerated, don't you think?

If you would like to see bugs fixed, you'll need to file them at
bugzilla.redhat.com. The websites team handles the administration of
Fedora websites, not bug reporting.

Did you know on your wiki page (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Overview) it?says:
Target Audience
The Fedora Distribution's target audience is:
1. FIXME
2. FIXME
3. FIXME
If you aren't sure if you fall into the target audience, Is Fedora For Me? may help guide you.
?
?
?
I need alot of fixing, I'm definatly switching to Fedora. ;)

I have removed the FIXME's. When we finalize changes, we will add them
back. Thank you for your feedback.

Already reported in Bugzilla. Hopefully someone in the docs team will

Dear Fedora Project,
Just wanted to say thank you for providing the software that damaged my
computer video. I can no longer use the computer after attempting to load a
live cd of Fedora 11.
The validated and correctly burned live cd damaged my computer after
running on it or attempting to. I couldn't really tell if it loaded since
it immediately caused the video to fail. The video no longer works, even
when loading Windows on the hard disk.
Thank you so much Fedora. I will never touch Fedora again, let alone
another version of Linux.

If a slow-moving, "much more stable" distribution is what you are
after, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or a rebuild of it like CentOS) might
better suit you.
The very core of Fedora is to rapidly move free software forward.
This can be done best by following the free software mantra of
"release early, release often."
That said, finding and fixing grave bugs is quite important to Fedora
and we encourage all users to become actively involved in reporting
bugs to us (as well as helping to fix them :). For more details on
how to report bugs, please see:

I've answered the writer directly and hope to hear more details
shortly that will help us get to the bottom of the story (and
hopefully ease the writer's troubles too).

Subject: spins.fpo revamp content & update
Message-ID: <4ADF7154.90908@fedoraproject.org>
Hi folks,
I promised I'd sent the Fedora websites list the spins content the
maintainers so graciously put together on short notice for our spin.fpo
redesign.
Here's the content they put together - they made it very easy to link to
:) :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Website_redesign_2009/Mockups/Spins.fpo#Spins_Content
Also as a status update, I think we are set on the design for Electronic
Lab and LXDE. I still need to go through the mockup process with
remaining spins' content and make sure the spin maintainers are okay
with what I come up with. I'm hoping to have that done by this Friday
but we'll see.
I sent out a message to the fedora-desktop list too to see if they want
a page for their spin and if so what content they might be able to
provide. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to give them a spins.fpo page
or not yet but hopefully some good discussion about that will happen on
that lit.

Sijis,
The programming you and the team have been doing on the spins site is
really excellent, and it looks like a lot of progress over the last
week or so. Keep up the fantastic work!

Subject: Requesting help with http://fedoraproject.org/PackageReviewStatus/
Message-ID:
For ages there's been this ugly set of pages at
http://fedoraproject.org/PackageReviewStatus/ used by folks who do
package reviews for Fedora to avoid having to stare at the bugzilla
query screen. Lately I've been trying to overhaul things a bit; I made
things generate from genshi templates instead of a bunch of print
statements, and I added a nice index page.
For the index page, I tried to follow existing Fedora page design, but I
know, well, almost nothing about CSS and HTML so I'd appreciate any
suggestions. (I don't know much python, either, so it's a miracle that
the stuff runs and renders at all.) Also, I put the Fedora boilerplate
at the bottom, which I'm not sure I'm allowed or supposed to do. I'd
really like it if someone could look over that and let me know if I need
to change or remove what's there.
I haven't really done much to the report pages other than try to make
the HTML not stomach-turning. There's been no attempt made to have them
confirm to any Fedora style or standard. Any ideas are appreciated.
If anyone feels like looking at the templates, they're in the "fedora"
CVS tree, visible at
http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/status-report-scripts/review-templates/?root=fedora
The script itself (if anyone can stomach it) is at
http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/status-report-scripts/review-stats.py?root=fedora&view=log

I suspect that you've gotten the message you quoted from some other
source, as it did not originate within fedoraproject.org. So there's
no list that we can remove you from (expletive or otherwise :).

We do not own the website in question; the web server on it is merely

Subject: [PATCH] Include a link to /verify for pre-releases
Message-ID: <20091023143607.GF5222@inocybe.localdomain>
---
Some beta users asked how to verify their downloads. Others didn't
know the checksum used SHA-256 instead of SHA-1. As a first step,
adding a link to the /verify page might help.
It's not the best, as users would have to find the *-CHECKSUM file
manually. This is mitigated a little because the verify page states
"to verify your ISO, start by downloading the proper CHECKSUM file
into the same directory as the ISO."
If we need to be more explicit, we could add links to the CHECKSUM
files on get-prerelease, but that page is already a bit cluttered.
Anyone opposed to adding the /verify link for now? Or does anyone
see a problem with how I've done it here? I don't know the templating
stuff very well, so I could be doing it all wrong. The site did
build for all languages with this applied, which seems like a good
sign. :)

Looks good to me, thanks! Make sure to push this to the f12-beta
branch, so it'll go live (and then get into master when we merge into
that).
Thanks,

The file should be in the openssl-devel package on ppc. Each
architecture has an opensslconf-$basearch.h file.
Please note that the webmaster at fedoraproject.org address is only for

Imho the link should go to the https version of the page to make it more
likely that people use the https link, e.g. when they bookmark the page
for later use.

This is true. It's a change that would need to be made to the
get-fedora and verify pages as well, since both use similar code in
the templates that don't enforce https. I think I might have done
this origianlly (I had the /verify patch laying around since the last
release), but it may have caused issues with templating and/or
translating?
Anyone that knows more about the templating and translating would be
awesome if they could chime in with some advice on how to do this
properly.

I guess an absolute URL can't be avoided if we want https, so something
like this might work:
${Markup(_('After downloading an ISO, <a href="https://fedoraproject.org/%s/%s/verify">verify</a> it.') % (path, lang))}
At some point, we can probably wrap making links like this in a function
letting you choose between https/http and absolute vs. relative.
Thanks,
Ricky

I stripped off the / before %s, as in my testing path always expanded
to include the leading slash (and a URL with a unnessecary // in it
just looks ugly). If it's not a safe to assume that path always has a
leading /, I can add it back or see about using some python to strip
it when needed.
