From wtrocki at redhat.com Mon Jul 10 18:39:07 2017 From: wtrocki at redhat.com (Wojciech Trocki) Date: Mon, 10 Jul 2017 19:39:07 +0100 Subject: [feedhenry-dev] Feedhenry Sync can be used now as fully independent solution Message-ID: Hi everyone I'm delighted to announce that FeedHenry sync is now available as separate project. Entire migration process was executed and managed entirely by FeedHenry community. *What was done:* Both the Sync Server and JavaScript client have been de-coupled from the RHMAP platform - these libraries can now be used outside of RHMAP for any project that requires sync. Cloud library: https://github.com/feedhenry/fh-sync JavaScript client: https://github.com/feedhenry/fh-sync-js *Decoupling enabled us to execute various experiments* - React native support - Extended TypeScript support in Raincatcher - Use different storage solutions for clients (sqllite etc.) - Applying security and roles to sync based api. I would like to thank everyone involved in work, verification and PR reviews. Migration was done using GitHub issues rather than Jira. Thanks to that we immediately got feedback from developers outside our group and in my personal opinion this improved a lot overall community interaction. *What's next:* - Improvements for community documentation and getting started experience Looking for volunteers. - Blogging and more community awareness Blog post and wider community actions coming soon. - Extract code from Android and IOS SDK In progress by myself, but looking for volunteers - Updates to feedhenry.org On hold - planed by devexp team I think we may also need to figure out more "catchy" name and logo for sync. Hi RedHat Join us on Thursday, July 20 for our webinar, Going reactive with Java. In this webinar, Burr Sutter, director of Developer Experience, will demonstrate how you can change the way applications are built using a reactive toolkit for JavaTM, known as Eclipse Vert.x. If you are tired of your old create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) cycle with a GET and POST development model, then this webinar is a must-see. Register now DevNation Live: A new technical webinar series. This webinar is the first in a series of fast-paced, demo-focused webinars. Topics include Java, Kubernetes, containers, building cloud-native apps, and reactive programing. Check out our upcoming DevNation Live webinars and register now . We hope you can join us. Hi RedHat Join the Red Hat DevNation for an upcoming live session on August 3, 2017, as Rafael Benevides presents on Kubernetes for Java Developers . Developers are becoming more familiar with Linux containers each day, but have you ever thought about how to manage a fleet of hundreds, or even thousands, of containers? If so, Kubernetes from Google is the "de facto" standard for container orchestration. This brief session will provide you with a basic understanding of what Kubernetes is, and how it can help you to run your Linux containers at scale. After this session, you will only want to deploy your Java applications and microservices on Kubernetes! To register and view the schedule, click here We hope you can join us. There are a lot of features that we can implement and use cases to support so this would be a good chance to get input from everyone to see what we want to include in the final feature. First, we have some givens that I think we have buy in for. * KeyCloak on OpenShift will power our 5.x mobile auth features. * The existing mBaas APIs will be need an update to support the new auth service * New client libraries will be provided (either an existing project will be adopted or greenfield) * fh-$platform-sdk will be updated to support new client libraries to connect with KeyCloak * The Oauth part of the solution should new require an embedded WebView (1) Second, we have some ideas for features that are probably useful, but we need discussion and buy in * IDE and developer tooling support (Ask me to demo Firebase's auth tooling integration) * Native platform integration (IE system level account pickers instead of web browser redirects) * PoC integration with the Mobile Control panel David and Craig are working on * Support and integrations for WebSockets and fh-sync * Pluggability with other auth systems Finally, this email and thought has been from the client side perspective AND the perspective of the 5.x project. We still have 3.x and 4.x, server side integrations, and ops concerns as well. Feel free to add your thoughts here. Summers 1: Google is actively blocking webviews for its OAuth flows. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
