Greetings Red Hat Partners,
We are pleased to announce the availability of the Red Hat Hardware
Certification Test Suite Beta (hwcert-client-1.6.5-21) for testing
purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 pre-releases.
The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite Beta package
(hwcert-client-1.6.5-21) is *not* an official release and should *not*
be used for Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification submissions. The
current Red Hat Hardware Test Suite (hwcert-client-1.6.4-57 for RHEL
6.x) should continue to be used for official certifications.
The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite Beta is available at the
following location:
ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL6/hwcert-client/1.6.5/
Highlights of the hwcert-client-1.6.5-21 test suite beta include:
* hwcert-client-1.6.5-21 only supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
releases.
* New capability-specific 10GigEthernet, 1GigEthernet, and
100MegEthernet tests are added and will plan by default on appropriate
devices. This will avoiding needing to re-run the network test because
of incorrect connections.
* New capability-specific WirelessG and WirelessN tests are added and
will plan by default on appropriate devices.
* The network test is called from within the WirelessX tests, avoiding
the need to separately run both the wlan and network tests on wireless
adapters.
* The expresscard test now also uses dmidecode data to discover
expresscard hardware.
* New capability-specific USB2 and USB3 usb tests are added and will
plan by default on appropriate devices.
* The usb test will now record the port type that has been tested.
* The hwcert-client-1.6.5-21 package will default to sending results
xml.gz files to the partner test hardware catalog. The partner test
hardware catalog is located at:
https://partner-hwcert.redhat.com/
As the name implies, the partner test hardware catalog is a separate
test instance of the catalog that is based on a copy of the Red Hat
Bugzilla database. It uses the same Bugzilla username and password as
the production catalog. Results submitted here will not be made public
and may be removed at any time if the database is refreshed.
* The 'hwcert' command will attempt to submit previously run, but not
submitted, test results to the hardware catalog before testing.
* The 'hwcert' command will print a results summary similar to the
previous test suite's 'v7 print' command at the end of the current run.
The summary will be printed before prompting to submit or save the
results to the hardware catalog or hwcert-server.
* Results xml.gz files can be viewed, downloaded locally, and uploaded
to the hardware catalog using the hwcert-server package web interface at:
http://{hwcert-server-IP}/hwcert/
* The 'hwcert-backend submit' command can be used on the system under
test to submit packaged results xml.gz files from previous runs to the
hardware catalog.
* The 'hwcert-backend save' command can be used on the system under test
to save packaged results xml.gz files from previous runs to a
hwcert-server test server.
The hwcert-client-1.6.5-21 package has been tested against pre-releases
of RHEL6.5 on the x86, x86_64, ppc64, and s390x architectures. If you
encounter any problems, please file bugs against the 'Red Hat Hardware
Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com).
