Greetings Red Hat Partners,

We are pleased to announce the availability of the Red Hat Hardware
Certification Test Suite Beta 4 (hwcert-client-1.7.0-20140124.2) for
testing purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x releases.

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite Beta 4 package
(hwcert-client-1.7.0-20140124.2) is *not* an official release and should
*not* be used for Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification submissions.
The current Red Hat Hardware Test Suites (hwcert-client-1.5.10-2 for
RHEL 5.x and hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1 for RHEL 6.x) should continue to
be used for official certifications.

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite Beta 4 is available at the
following location:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/hwcert-client/1.7.0/beta-4/

The required hwcert-client-info package is available at the following
location:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/hwcert-client-info/1.7.0/beta-4

Highlights of the hwcert-client-1.7.0-20140124.2 test suite beta 4 include:

* Test servers are now standardized on RHEL 6. A hwcert-server.el7
package is available for completeness but is not tested for use at this
time.

* New RHEL 6.5, x86_64-based guest and data images for the fv-* tests
are provided at:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/fv-images/

* The video test now uses gnome-shell and glxgears to verify support in
RHEL 7. OpenGL support is required by the default desktop environment in
RHEL 7. Mesa provides OpenGL support in software for hardware without
driver support of OpenGL.

* The cpuscaling test now utilizes the 'cpupower' infrastructure
replacing the previous 'cpufreq-selector' commands.

* Due to Bug #1057807, the cpuscaling test will traceback on systems not
utilizing the Intel pstate cpu governor.

* The dvd+rw-tools package required for DVD and BD media write testing
is not available in the server tree in RHEL 7 Snapshot 3 and earlier
(Bug #1057304), and will need to be installed from the Workstation or
Client trees.

* The fv_* tests will request the seabios package. This package is no
longer required and this request may safely be ignored (Bug #1058443).

* The fv_* test default time-out is temporarily extended to 90 minutes
to enable more complete debugging with the new fv images. This extended
time-out allows testing to complete that would otherwise see the guest
forced to power down (Bug #1043526).

* The profiler test is now re-enabled.

* The pccard test is now deprecated.

The hwcert-client-1.7.0-20140124.2 package has been tested against RHEL
7.0 Snapshot 3 on the x86_64, ppc64, and s390x architectures. If you
encounter any problems, please file bugs against the 'Red Hat Hardware
Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com).
