=====================================================================

1. Summary:

An update for Red Hat JBoss Operations Network 3.1.2 that fixes one
security issue is now available from the Red Hat Customer Portal.

The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this update as having moderate
security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score,
which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in
the References section.

2. Description:

Red Hat JBoss Operations Network is a middleware management solution that
provides a single point of control to deploy, manage, and monitor JBoss
Enterprise Middleware, applications, and services.

It was discovered that the JBoss Operation Network configuration files, for
both the server and the agent, were world readable by default. A malicious
local user could possibly read sensitive information regarding the
installation, including various authentication credentials. (CVE-2013-4452)

This issue was discovered by Larry O'Leary of the Red Hat Middleware
Support Engineering Group.

All users of JBoss Operations Network 3.1.2 as provided from the Red Hat
Customer Portal are advised to apply this update.

3. Solution:

The References section of this erratum contains a download link (you must
log in to download the update). Before applying this update, back up your
existing JBoss Operations Network installation (including its databases,
applications, configuration files, the JBoss Operations Network server's
file system directory, and so on).

To apply the fix for CVE-2013-4452 to an existing server or agent, for
which you do not want to use the default patched files distributed by this
update, using the chmod utility, remove the read file permission attribute
from the following files (where it exists):

    <RHQ_SERVER_HOME>/bin/rhq-server.properties
    <RHQ_AGENT_HOME>/conf/agent-configuration.xml
    ~/.java/.userPrefs/rhq-agent/default/prefs.xml

Note: This update provides fixes for the server and agent components of Red
Hat JBoss Operations Network. It is recommended to apply all the patches
provided by this update.

Refer to the JBoss Operations Network 3.1.2 Release Notes for installation
information.
