[K12OSN] Samba changes

Just a note regarding Samba versions and capabilities.

Samba 2.2.0 - first version to allow Windows 2000 machines to join a samba
controlled domain. Unfortunately, Windows NT4 workstations can't be used for
file sharing in a samba 2.2.0 domain.

Samba 2.2.1 - Fixes the problem with sharing win NT4 workstations. Allows
Windows 2000 SP2+ machines to be joined in a samba domain. nss-wins was
added allowing name resolution via netbios names.

Samba 2.2.1a - Manipulate ACL (Access Control Lists) from a Linux/Samba box.

samba 2.2.2 - Allows Windows XP clients to be joined to the samba domain.
Also includes winbind which allows Unix/linux/samba machines to better
integrate into a windows controlled domain.

Samba 2.2.3a - Latest version. Basically bug fixes to all the features added
in prior versions. Substantially improved LDAP integration.

With regard to directory services, Samba has abstracted the password
management, and will allow smbpasswd's to be stored in LDAP, NIS+ or a TDB
(trivial database). These are experimental features, but some people are
using them effectively. Note that LDAP+Samba can provide a setup similar to
Active Directory, allowing you to have multiple samba domains with consistent
usernames and passwords.

Hope this info is helpful.
