Re: [K12OSN] Please comment on this hardware

gustav, chip - - thanks for the info. Will check out the via group below.
I know the K12LTSP project deals party with using old hardware, but this new modern hardware is the ticket.
Thanks again,
Tom

Greetings, please comment on this hardware,
The VIA EPIA Mini-ITX mainboard with 800mhz
This board has onboard video, LAN and audio...
CPU: 800mhz VIA C3 E-series (socket 370)
$118 US
These boards are 170mm x 170mm, nice.
Cheap terminal gear.
Any experience ? I would like to build a portable say 6 workstation
box all contained in on box. Just add monitors keyboards and mice and
an internet connection. The K12LTSP server would also be in this box
but does not count as a workstation. Small switch inside. Entirely
self contained.
Please comment on wireless mice and keyboards also...Can you get 10
keyboard/mice to work on seperate channels ?

These Systems are pretty nice. However, many people have had problems getting all integreated components to work out of the box on all Linux Distrobutions. You should be fine, it just might take some major tweaking to get everything working perfectly. Be aware that TV-out does not work under linux at all at this time. Your best resources is most likely the ViaArena Linux Help Forums: http://forums.viaarena.com/categories.cfm?catid=28
