The OpenLDAP v1.2 -> v2.x transition is not a lot of fun, but v2.x is so
much more stable it's definately worth it.

I've been working on cleaning up my schemas. We're getting ready to move
from v2.0 to v2.1, which is pretty easy except that v2.1 is a little more
picky about the schemas.

Both Shahms and I have done a fair amount of mucking around with schemas.
If you get stuck, post what you have here and one of us will take a
crack at it.

Also, as Shahms mentioned, you need a "base" OID for anything custom that
you do. If you can't figure out what to use, use "1.3.6.1.4.1.10277.99999"
as your base. "1.3.6.1.4.1.10277" is my OID, so you won't have to worry
about conflicting with a "real" OID. [ the numbering goes from left to
rigth, so use 1.3.6.1.4.1.10277.99999.1, 1.3.6.1.4.1.10277.99999.2, etc ]
