[K12OSN] Client still fails with unable to mount root fs

I tried a new boot disk with a setting CONFIG_PCI_DIRECT. No Luck. I
am completely at a loss for why this doesn't work.

The text is:

EXT2-fs warning: checktime reached, running e2fsck is recommended
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem)
Running /linuxrc
Mounting /proc
Running dhclient
Mounting root filesystem: /opt/ltsp/i386 from:
Doing the pivot_root
Mount the devfs filesystem
Running the /sbin/init
Usage: init 0123456SsQqAaBbCcUu
VFS: Cannot open root device "nfs" or 00:ff
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:ff

Does this mean /sbin/init is failing? If so, what do I do? I have
searched every back archive of K12LTSP and most of LTSP in search of the
answer without success.

I am using the *kitchen-sink* image, since the 3C905b-fx isn't supported
with the default image. Relevant section of dhcpd.conf

   host ws001 {
        hardware ethernet     00:10:4B:CA:CA:4D;
        filename              "/lts/vmlinuz-2.4.9-1-kitchen-sink.img";
        option option-128 e4:45:74:68:00:00;
        option option-129 "NIC=3c905-fx";
        option root-path "/opt/ltsp/i386; Added in attempt to force
root path.
