Matt,
	flicker is usually caused by refresh rate same as the power
frequency - here in US having a monitor refresh set at 60Hz is giving
really "nice" strobe effect to people wearing thick rimless glasses.
waves
are often caused by magnetic field from electrical wiring - i have one
wall in the building where any monitor gets wavy - 3 lengthwise wires
crossing over a few times. good luck, julius
