Schoolmation is something to look at ( http://www.schoolmation.com ) although I don’t know if that fits your bill. You’ll see them trying to sell you a $250 version but you can download the free one that doesn’t have the actual course delivery. Something else you may want to look into is a web portal such as php-nuke (or post-nuke for that matter). It isn’t specifically designed for what you want, but it is a template with themes and is very modular. You can add modules and “blocks” to fit your needs such as calendars, news and announcements, forums, and user management where you can delegate control to each module… etc. Go to our site at http://redbugs.dsc.k12.ar.us for an example, it’s what we use for our main site. You’ve got my wheels turning now, it wouldn’t take much work to build a teacher community website with nuke. =)

Are there any open source projects that have the same or similar features as http://www.myschoolonline.com. I am looking to create a community of teachers website that they can post assignments, class projects, calendars and class news.
