Red Hat installs quite commonly leave the /etc/hosts file "incomplete".
Adding an entry in there, with your hostname (both FQDN and alias) on the
addresses that sendmail will use should fix the problem. If the hostname is
not being set at all, then edit /etc/sysconfig/network and correct it in
there. After a name change, the simplest way to restart all daemons that
need to know it is to restart the machine, or drop to runlevel 1 and then
3/5 again.
