No, I hadn't looked at Konquerer - but I did discover that in Mozilla and Netscape, you can mess around with the .XUL files in the chrome directory to redo the entire user interface. I have yet to make it work like I need, but it does look promising. I don't need auto-fullscreen as much as I need to make it such that the animals that inhabit our library can't change settings that they shouldn't.

I am still, however, looking for a way to make KDM auto-RE-login, such that if a library staffer needs to restart a terminal, the terminal will automatically log itself in again. I can get it to login by itself the first time, but not after that. GDM will do it, but not log in users based on host id. At least I can't get that to work.

Any ideas?

Konquerer has a kiosk mode - have you looked at that?
