I found the problem. When I said that they were all alike, I did not check the onboard sound. It was disabled on all of them except this one. When I disabled the sound, it cranked right up just like all the rest.

Brian - where would I find the bus ID stuff you were talking about? I looked all over the X86 and KDE stuff. Where is it?

    Yeah...it's possible that the others have one bus-id, this one has
another.  Leave off the bus-id in XF86Config (unless you're going
Xinerama) and it'll probably come right up.

Just a guess...
