Yes, of course!  Set up the W2K users with accounts on the K12LTS using the same names exactly - don't worry about any passwords. 

Now get users to login at the Linux thin client using their username, which is now valid for both Windows / Linux and use PAM to set up authentication on the W2K server, such that their existing windows passwords validate.

We then also mount 3 drives from the W2K box so that users have access from Linux client to Windows resources such as picture library, information documents / pdf's and a public shared drive allowing exchange between Linux and windows and between users.
