What does 'showmount -e' say locally and 'showmount -e servername' from
the client?  If they are different, you probably need to allow
portmap in /etc/hosts.allow  (this should be logged in
/var/logged/secure) or it is iptables blocking the connection which
means you'll have to add some custom templates in
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/rc.d/init.d/masq.
