[K12OSN] Netatalk WBEL

Has anyone installed netatalk successfully into WBEL?  I downloaded the
netatalk-1.6.4.tar.gz from sourceforge did a
tar zxf netatalk-1.6.4.tar.gz
./configure
make
make install
 
and am stuck.  I have read something about no Appletalk support
compliled into the kernel, do I have to recompile?  Also I cannot find
the atalkd.conf anywhere and I don't see a atalkd service installed.
What am I missing?  I installed the Webmin Module for Netatalk and that
as well says the Netatalk is not installed.
