[K12OSN] Default Printers

I know this topic has been discussed before, but I'm not sure there was a
definative answer...

Is there a way to set a user's default printer based on group assignment?
Or by any other means? Here's my scenario:

I have 3 buildings (connected via gigabit fiber) that log onto an LTSP
server. Using cups, I have 1 printer set as the default. When folks use
programs like openoffice, and just hit the "print" icon, it sends an lpr
job to the default printer. If I could base the user's default printer on
SOMETHING other than the system default, that would be great.

OR, is there a way to get applications like openoffice and mozilla to
DEFAULT to opening a program like kprinter when they click on the print
button? I know you can change the setting as a user, but I'm talking
defaults here... :)

OR^2 what does everyone else do?

Thanks a bunch...
-Shawn
