Eric,  you got it.   XServer=s3 worked.   Odd thing is we had 80 machines
from State of Maine Surplus that cost us $22 each and they worked great,
but we had to do a little bit for each in lts.conf.  That was with 3.x
ltsp.  Moving to 4.0.1 everything just booted up fine, no issues.  So, we
had not needed any conf file edits, this one seems to speed up the pull
downs a lot.  I may try the others, but for now the =s3 worked much

Shane, any chance your terminals are using S3 video cards?

If yes, try using different video drivers. In /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf,
try each of the following (one at a time):

	XSERVER = s3

	XSERVER = XF86_S3

	XSERVER = XF86_SVGA

	XSERVER = vesa
