Again, low-tech solutions are great. :)  I literally bought a 12 port
gigabit switch, and put it in my server rack.  A second gig ethernet card
on each server has a static 192.168 address, and plugs into the switch. 
(My "public" network is a 10. range)

I only export /home to the 192.168 addresses, so only the computers
plugged into that lone switch (ie, only the servers in the rack) can get
the nfs share.

So far, it's worked really really nice.
