[K12OSN] DNS....not quite understanding it.....

Hi all,

Here's the set up. I have all my servers on the same network. I have an
SME server (proxy) (E-Smith 6.01) for my gateway/firewall...etc. This
server also run DNS. I have a server (squidward) that does nothing but
DHCP (and maybe DNS....part of my question). And then I have my
Samba-LDAP server (spongebob) and my K12LTSP server (k12ltsp) as well. I
have "reserved" or static IP assignments in my dhcpd.conf file on the
machine serving DHCP (squidward). I also have names and IP's set up in
the hostnames and addresses section of the SME server (proxy). My
question....

since I have the names entered into the SME server and I know they
work....(I tested it by changing the option for name server in my
dhcpd.conf file to point to the SME server instead of the DHCP server aka
squidward) do I even need to bother with running named on the DHCP server
(squidward)? Will this affect my K12LTSP server at all? Doesn't seem to
thus far. Yet now I seem to be able to resolve the names of my printers.
Any advice...appreciated.... :-)
