[K12OSN] Samba/Ldap question

I've followed D. Trask's lovely Samba/LDAP walkthrough...

I've gotten to the point where you attach the computer to the 
domain...(XP PRO)...
and the machine attaches...
But when I attempt to login to the domain it returns an invalid username 
or password error message.

any ideas?  cap-locks off... password correct...case-sense 
correct..username correct...all those normal user errors resolved...
so must be a config/admin error somewhere along the way Eh? =)
